Kek Lok Si means " Temple of Supreme Bliss" began to construct in 1890 with  the completion of of its seven storey handcrafted "Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas" in 1930. The pagoda is considered one of the Penang most beautiful architectural wonders with its chinese octagonal based, Thai middle tier and Burmese crown. Labuan Water Front Hotel

This is one of  4 star hotel, The Water Front Hotel in Labuan Island,Sabah Borneo. The room rate in Labuan Island is much higher compared to hotels in Kota Kinabalu due to the limited accomodation/hotels available in the island. During peak seasion such as maintenance period for oil & gas refinery/industry, overwhelming demand from outside/oversea contractors will push up the price of  room rate. For the worst case, I had  bad experience where some hotel operators didn't entertain room reservation via phone and they only allow walk in customers.

The Water Front Hotel strategically  located near to Labuan Financial Center. For those who like to shop for duty free  import chocolates and alcohol beverages, they can  spend about 10 minutes walk to Labuan Financial center. If visitors are looking for local taste, the row of local food stalls, which are located opposite of the hotel may  offer the widest range of local foods selection.

Batu Sapi in Sandakan

Batu Sapi's Rock at downtown of Sandakan
The landmark for Sandakan Town
What is the story behind Batu Sapi in Sandakan?

SANDAKAN: A legend surrounding a unique seaside rock formation that gave the Batu Sapi parliamentary constituency its name may serve as a reminder to the three contenders in the seat’s by-election.

Growing up in the village of Kampung Gas nearby, Ambulang Along, 50, frequently heard stories from the elders in his Sabah east coast Bajau community of how the rock formation came to be.

The rock formation is located some 20km from downtown Sandakan
“According to my ancestors, there was once a buffalo and a salt water crocodile who were friends. The buffalo would come to graze near the seaside and chat with his friend, the crocodile.

Legendary rock: The rock formation that gave Batu Sapi constituency its name. According to Bajau community folklore, the rock resembles the buffalo and the crocodile.

One day, while grazing the buffalo decided to take a walk in the sea. Upon seeing this, the crocodile became offended and accused the buffalo of stepping into his territory,” said Ambulang.

This caused the friends to argue and they failed to realise that the sky had turned dark and clouds had begun to gather.
